 Level 3 Martial Arts Performance offers a new and unique approach to martial arts fitness training that combines the ancient traditions of a time-proven skill with the modern day champion mindset you'd expect from high performance athletes. Our classes are for men, women, teens, children, and adults and help protect you from everyday dangers like bullying, stress, poor health, and negative circumstances. Our martial art style is versatile and extremely well-rounded and will provide you a complete training experience while our positive and respectful environment remains as the perfect place to gain a new social experience while developing amazing skills and gaining new friends along the way.

Martial Arts fitness training is a proven method for increasing self-esteem, confidence, and positive attitude – three traits vital to one’s development no matter the age. Martial Arts training connects the mind, body, and spirit in a way nothing else does. It’s easy to identify the “body” aspects of training - the physical movements and exercises: self-defense skills, balance, coordination, strength, agility, and flexibility.  But there is more below the surface. The “mind” aspect develop focus, attention, concentration, and awareness – skills needed in work, school, or just when driving around town. The “spirit” of Martial Arts provides empowerment, self-esteem, positive attitude, belief, confidence, and respect – traits needed for improving independence, leadership, or just to avoid unhealthy daily temptations.  These traits combined with our well-rounded curriculum help you achieve indisputable results.

Group & Private Martial Arts Fitness Training

Consistent class attendance is the only way for our program to help you reach your goals, so prioritize your training schedule and show up at all costs, even on day's you might not feel energetic or motivated. Yes, there will be those moments of self doubt and discouragement, but the only way to conquer that is to show up and train with your martial arts family in our positive environment. We promise you'll always go home feeling better knowing you did instead of wishing you had. That's discipline - doing what is best even if you don't think you can or don't want to. When you're consistent from day-one you'll get in the groove right away, make friends, and feel as if you're an important part of our school. You'll always go home feeling happier, sleep better, and feel a sense of accomplishment motivating you to keep moving forward. We cannot overstate the importance of starting strong and staying consistent!

GROUP INSTRUCTION

Group classes consist of physical conditioning and stretching, skill building drills and Martial Arts / self defense techniques. Our classes are a positive social experience, plus training is just more fun and motivating when people with similar interests are along side you adding energy to our atmosphere. Learning how to work with and respect others help us learn more about ourselves and stay calm in challenging scenarios.

Group classes are roughly 60-minutes in duration. This is the most productive amount of time that allows a student of this age group to learn, exercise, and enjoy their training without being overwhelming.

Group classes are typically broken into timed sections: 15m exercises and stretches, 10m basics / line drills / striking combos / skill drills, 20m rank material, 10m practice / interaction, 2m lesson summary (there could be variance depending on the depth of that lesson's topic).

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION

Private training allows us to personalize your experience and effectively deliver a custom-tailored curriculum to help you achieve your goals whether it be competition training, conditioning, flexibility, classical training, rank advancement or anything else. Private lessons are also an excellent way to pick up techniques and principles that may not be covered until later in the class calendar or catch up on lessons you might have missed. They are roughly 30 minutes in duration and are designed to help us refine your skills and / or provide additional help in troubled areas. Private lessons are typically broken into timed sections: 5m warm up, 15m material progress, 5m review, and 5m sparring / interaction (time may be adjusted to focus on requested areas or as your instructor sees fit). Immediately we'll try to match you with a partner of similar age, goals, and skill level to help you get the most out of your training. Additional private lessons may be scheduled throughout the month at your request at a significant discount. If you cannot attend your private lesson a 24-hour advanced notice is required for a make-up lesson to be scheduled. If you need to switch to a different time permanently see your instructor.

Rank Progression Outline

Rank testing is an exciting moment in our martial arts journey.  If you've been invited to test prioritize this event and show up.  Refusing an invitation to test shows you don’t value your instructor’s judgment of your progress or that you don't respect your own efforts. Plus you will have to wait two to three months for your next opportunity as that is roughly the length of time between tests. Testing duration is not predetermined. Testing requires student to prove their knowledge while maintaining focus and a positive attitude during physical challenges. We also aim to educate students about deeper levels of their material during testing making it a great learning experience. Because progress and skill happen over time it can be hard to identify improvement in your own skill. However, tying a new colored belt around your waist is an easy way to help us realize our efforts are paying off. We want you to leave a test with two things: 1) a new belt; 2) more importantly, a sense of accomplishment knowing you deserve that belt. The following are taken into consideration before your instructor invites you to test:

  • Memorization and complete performance of techniques to the air, pads, and on a partner.

  • Focus, spirit, and intensity behind movements

  • Proper student image, etiquette & self control

  • Consistent class attendance

Our martial art system's levels of progression:

  • Level 1: White Belt, Yellow Belt, Orange Belt, Purple Belt

  • Level 2: Blue Belt, Advanced Blue Belt, Green Belt, Advanced Green Belt, Brown Belt

  • Level 3: Kaishi "start" Black Belt (for students under the age of 16), Shodan - 1st Degree and higher.

  • A certified 1st-Degree Black Belt (Shodan) is awarded to students ages 16 and above. We believe at this age students are able to grasp the maturity required for being a Black Belt. We do consider exceptions when they are exceptional. In our system of Martial Arts Black Belt is truly just the beginning. All the study and ranks leading to Black Belt are about mastering the basics and preparing for the more tactical and advanced concepts of Kempo Karate.

  • It's important you realize that achieving Black Belt does not make you a Black Belt - You have a Black Belt but are not yet a Black Belt. The act of becoming only happens through doing. You haven't yet mastered the material and skill that actually defines the rank. The act of becoming only happens through doing. So to consider yourself a true Black Belt you must reach Nidan - 2nd Degree Black Belt. This means you learned and conquered Shodan-1st Degree Black Belt material. It's mind-blowing that some students quit immediately after being awarded their Black Belt! It's not a collector's toy - USE IT! If you train for all those years don't you want to at least wear it for a while? Someone once said "getting your Black Belt and quitting is like getting your driver's license and never driving".Being part of the exclusive world of LEVEL 3 training is a whole new experience where you'll learn new techniques and evolve old ones into something you never even knew was possible. Think of LEVEL 3 as a lifestyle, a backbone that will keep you upright and achieving all through life.

Test fees (vary at each level): Every martial arts program charges test fees. Traditionally there was always some kind of task accomplishment or bartering required when a student would be considered for advancement to a new rank level. Today we use money rather than goods or special tasks / missions. However our studio does not rely on test fees as a key source of income, therefore we don’t push students through the ranks unfairly nor will a student be eligible for every test. Plus our test fees are generally less than most other studios in the industry. As rank level increases the time between ranks slows gradually so you aren't paying more every month just to progress. Your test fee covers the cost of the belt, certificate, and the testing procedure. The Purple Belt test fee includes the mandatory black uniform. To plan / budget accordingly see your instructor for details.

Student image and etiquette

We are all a reflection of our martial art, peers, and community leaders. Presenting ourselves with proper care and pride is a key trait that leads to success. We are a private school and require a private school uniform as outlined below to maximize modesty and self-respect. Please present your self cleanliness, pride, and care (including language) at all times. You represent our logo, your fellow students, and yourself (click here to print the L3MAP the Code of Conduct).

  • Full uniforms are to be worn during class and include Gi-top & bottoms, belt, and studio Logo T-Shirt, and school patches. Check out our YouTube video for tying your belt - click here!

  • A traditional white student uniform is distributed upon enrollment. A full black uniform must be worn at the rank of Purple Belt. Additional uniforms may be purchased at a discounted rate.

  • Uniforms are not to be worn while eating, playing, working, or sleeping.

  • Do not wear the belt outside the Dojo.

  • Uniforms must be odorless, clean, wrinkle free, and free from visible defects like stains and tears. Do not wash the belt. If your uniform does not represent a clean respectful image a new one may be required.

  • Students must be clean and odorless also. Little things like finger and toe nails being clean and properly maintained to ensure safety are a must. If you’re challenged with a physical medical condition that waivers your confidence in being able to fulfill proper etiquette please address it with your instructor immediately. Often there are solutions such as wearing a martial arts shoe to cover your feet if needed, or long sleeve under-shirts to protect arms, etc. Overall good hygiene is required. Repeat offenders may be suspended from classes until the concern is remedied. Remember, you share this experience with other people and we rely upon each other to make it the best and most enjoyable - cleanliness is a big part. We do our part nightly to keep our entire environment clean, smelling good, and most importantly, sterile and sanitized as much as possible.

  • Uniforms must fit properly - sleeves at wrist length and pants at the instep of your foot.

  • Do not bleach the uniform, it will change the school logo patch colors and you will be required to purchase new school logo patches of proper color.

  • Patches must be sewn on (except star patches).

  • Long hair is to be pulled back into a ponytail for safety and cleanliness.

  • No jewelry is to be worn in the Dojo for safety and humility and to prevent loss or damage.

  • Bring a water bottle with you to every class - we have a purified water unit for your convenience but we do not regularly supply drinking cups to help reduce trash and wastefulness.
